Implementation of Long AC HV and EHV cable systems
Thu, Mar 4, 2021 12:30 PM - 1:45 PM CET
EHV underground cables systems have been available since a long time, but their development has been limited by large capacitance and dielectric losses as well as a relatively low current rating compared to OHL.
The difficulties in installing new overhead lines are making it essential to consider the use of longer underground cable links, as demonstrated by the increasing numbers of long AC cable projects. The TB 680 covers most aspects of the implementation of long AC cable lengths both ground and submarine cables.
Details of fault location, installation by trenchless technologies is however found in dedicated Technical brochures (TB 773 & 770). Current rating is also found in dedicated TB’s.
The following topics can be found in TB 680;
• Current state of development
• Challenges for Implementation
• System Design
• Installation
• Monitoring
• Maintenance
In addition the TB includes experiences from many projects.
This webinar is presented by Fabien Renaudin and Volker Werle, members of CIGRE Working Group B1.47, "Implementation of long AC HV and EHV cable systems”, and published in the Technical Brochure 680 (available from www.e-cigre.org).
